Raw Food Dessert Recipes

These raw food dessert recipes are the perfect raw recipes for when you are craving sweets. Desserts like raw chocolate, pie, and ice cream are the guilt free luxuries of a raw food diet.

Most of these recipes are easy to make and do not require the use of a food dehydrator. A food processor or blender is sufficient for the majority of these raw food dessert recipes.

Keep in mind that many of these desserts tend to be high in fat, such as cakes and pies that have a nut based crust, but feel free to get creative and make low fat versions of your favorite recipes if you are trying to minimize fat intake. For instance, instead of using cashews for ice cream, I started using frozen bananas and now it is one of my favorite raw recipes.

When you are craving sweets on a raw food diet, fruit will usually do the job, but enjoy these desserts when you desire something a little extra.


Raw Food Dessert Recipes

Supreme Blueberry Pie

Crust Ingredients:

1 cup almonds, dry
1 1/2 cup dates

Blueberry Filling Ingredients:

5 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup dates, soaked for 1-2 hours
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method:

1. Grind almonds in a food processor into a powder, add the dry dates, and blend again. Press the mixture into a pie dish, reaching the edges.

2. Blend all filling ingredients. I don't blend it too long since I like to leave it a little chunky. Another option is leaving some blueberries aside to mix in after blending.

3. Pour the filling in the pie dish over the crust and freeze for one 1/2 hour to an hour.

Creamy Strawberry Cheesecake

Crust Ingredients:

1 cup macadamia nuts, dry
1 1/2 cup dates
1/4 cup dried coconut

Cheesecake Filling Ingredients:

1 cup cashews, soaked 4 hours
1/2 cup dates, soaked 1-2 hours
1 tablespoon lime juice
half or 1 vanilla bean
1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 cup frozen strawberries

Method:

1. Grind the walnuts in a food processor into a powder, add the dry dates, and blend again.

2. Sprinkle dried coconut onto the bottom of a pie dish and press the mixture into the dish, reaching the edges.

2. Blend all filling ingredients together until smooth and pour into pie dish over the crust and freeze 1-2 hours.


Raw Food Dessert Recipe

Strawberry Vanilla Bean Ice cream

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
2 frozen bananas
1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey
half or 1 vanilla bean
1 tablespoon water

Method:

1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until creamy. Do not blend too long or your ice cream will turn into a smoothie.


Raw Dessert Recipe

Raw Chocolate Crunch Bars

Ingredients:

1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup cacao powder
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 vanilla bean
1/3 cup chopped pistachios
1/3 cup chopped almonds
1/3 cup chopped cashews

Method:

1. Blend the coconut oil, cacao powder, vanilla, and maple syrup until smooth.

2. Pour mixture into a bowl and stir in all the nuts.

3. Spread mixture on a dish lined with wax paper and freeze for one hour.

4. Cut or break into pieces and enjoy chocolate as it was meant to be!

Variation: Some people are sensitive to chocolate (it keeps me awake at night) and in this case you can substitute carob for the cacao.
